About

Alper Turan holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Istanbul Technical University and a post-professional M.Arch II degree from Yale University School of Architecture. He works in the fields of architecture, representation, and graphic design. Throughout his career, Alper has worked in award winning design studios in Istanbul and New York. Before joining Tulane as a Visiting Assistant Professor, Alper worked at Pentagram Design with Paula Scher, collaborating on projects for clients such as the Public Theater, Memphis Art Museum and the High Line.

Academically, Alper’s interests revolve around formal, representational and social strategies that define architecture as a political medium. His research delves into the intricate dynamics between ideologies, monuments, and architectural representation in politically charged urban contexts, particularly examining monumentality. Alper's design work has been published in various publications including Archinect, Pan Scroll Zoom, Retrospecta, and KoozArch, and has been exhibited at prestigious venues such as the V&A Museum in London and Studio X in Istanbul. Alper remains actively engaged in his independent research and design pursuits through Post-Form, an independent practice he established in 2023.
